MAUMELLE CENTER ON THE LAKE INDOOR THERAPY POOL AND PARKING
Ballot Question 3
What is it?
For more than 20 years, our community has discussed the idea of adding a pool. That conversation became more focused in 2023, when Mayor Norris led an effort to better understand what residents truly wanted by forming community focus groups and hiring a professional study consultant.

In 2024, three separate focus groups met with the consultant to share ideas, priorities, and expectations. The consultant’s final recommendations provided valuable insight but came with a cost that exceeded what was feasible for the City.

With guidance from the Mayor, the City Engineer then took the feedback from those focus groups and thoughtfully refined it into the current pool project—one that reflects community input while remaining fiscally responsible.
To put it simply:
For years, the community has discussed adding an indoor pool, with focused planning beginning in 2023 through resident input and professional study. Using that feedback, the City refined a fiscally responsible pool project combined with parking improvements at Center on the Lake that reflects community priorities.

What will it look like on my ballot?
QUESTION 3:
FOR or AGAINST an issue of bonds of the City of Maumelle, Arkansas in the maximum principal amount of $5,390,000 which, together with other available moneys, for the purposes of financing all or a portion of the costs of the design, engineering, construction, acquisition, equipping and improvements for a new building in which there will be located an indoor therapy pool, locker rooms, and additional parking, and related improvements on the premises of the Maumelle Center on the Lake, together with furniture, fixtures, and related equipment of all types, and to pay the costs of issuing the bonds, and, in order to pay the bonds, the levy and pledge of a one-half of one percent (0.50%) local sales and use tax within the City
What does this mean?

Important Reminder- Ballot question 1 regarding refunding is the most crucial item on the ballot. If the refunding question is NOT approved, then none of the projects will be able to proceed. Even if the individual ballot question is approved by voters, it cannot be funded, and will not advance.
