CITY WIDE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
Ballot Question 2

Question 2 is asking voters to approve of financing all or a portion of the costs of the design, engineering, construction, acquisition and equipping of new, or improvements and repairs to city roads. The City’s pavement preservation program prioritizes maintaining streets in good condition, repairing streets that are failing, and rebuilding streets that have reached the end of their useful life as part of a structured, citywide approach to managing road infrastructure. The bond proposal would fund pavement work identified through this program, as well as the construction of new roadway connections, including a potential link between Natural Trail and White Oak Crossing.

What is it?

To put it simply:

Question 2 asks voters to approve funding for road work in the city. This includes planning, building, fixing, and improving streets. The City follows a plan to keep good roads in good shape, fix roads that are wearing out, and rebuild roads that are no longer usable. If approved, the bond would pay for these road projects and could also help build new road connections, such as a possible connection between Natural Trail and White Oak Crossing.

What will you see on your ballot?

QUESTION 2:

FOR or AGAINST an issue of bonds of the City of Maumelle, Arkansas in the maximum principal amount of $3,860,000 which, together with other available moneys, for the purposes of financing all or a portion of the costs of the design, engineering, construction, acquisition and equipping of new, or improvements and repairs to existing, streets, roads, sidewalks, trails, curbs, gutters, ditches, drainage facilities, overpasses, bridges, culverts, pipes, stormwater drainage and detention facilities, and related structures, including particularly, without limitation, any necessary land, easement and right-of-way acquisition and related intersection, interchange and interconnection improvements, utility adjustments, lighting and traffic control devices and improvements therefor, and to pay the costs of issuing the bonds, and, in order to pay the bonds, the levy and pledge of a one-half of one percent (0.50%) local sales and use tax within the City.

What does this mean?

Important Reminder- Ballot question 1 regarding refunding is the most crucial item on the ballot.  If the refunding question is NOT approved, then none of the projects will be able to proceed.  Even if the individual ballot question is approved by voters, it cannot be funded, and will not advance.
